On the Moreton Helicopter Tour you will experience our premium coastline scenic flight and track all the way around Moreton Island, the jewel of Brisbane. After departing Archerfield, you will head east in luxury and comfort first to Stradbroke Island where you’ll descend to just 500ft above the beach and fly north along the coastline toward Moreton Island.
After crossing the south passage bar you’ll track inside to see the famous Moreton Island wrecks surrounded by crystal clear water and white sandy beaches. You’ll most probably see a variety of marine life from the helicopter at this point including whales, dolphins, rays and even sharks!
As you continue North towards Cape Moreton you’ll fly around the lighthouse and then turn south following the seemingly endless view of the beach. Once back over Stradbroke Island you’ll take a westward turn and island hop back towards the south of Brisbane before returning to the airfield. An ideal gift for those who love the beach and island lifestyle!
The Moreton Helicopter Tour is perfect to share with a special someone, or to impress a business acquaintance.
Arrive at Archerfield airport approximately 30 minutes before your scheduled departure. (Further details will be emailed to you upon booking.)
From the airport, the journey begins heading eastward, over Sunnybank near Mt Gravatt.
As you fly over the vast parklands of Daisy Hill, you’ll soon approach a very scenic Mt Cotton. Home to the award-winning Sirromet Winery and more koalas than you can poke a stick at, your trip begins with a whole lot of rural bushland before you make your way to the eastern coastline.
After a very green warmup, you’ve finally made it to water! Shoot over Victoria Point and zoom across North Stradbroke Island. Being the larger half of the greater Stradbroke Island, ‘North Straddy’ is 275 square kilometres of bushwalks, beaches, resorts, activities and wildlife. You’ll be heading up the west coast of the island past peel island and toward Amity Point – a daily meeting spot for the local dolphins.
As you clear the point of Stradbroke island and fly over a bank of water, you’ll be flying at just 500ft coming into Moreton Island. From the south point of Kooringal to the northern point, you’ll get to experience the entire 44km length of Moreton Island and the incredible Moreton Bay to your left.
So you’ve conquered the Island and you’ve arrive at the lighthouse at Cape Moreton – the northern tip of the island. As you peer out into the vastness of the Coral Sea, you’ll be swooping around the lighthouse, and heading back down south along Moreton Island. Heading back down, there is beach as far as the eye can sea, between both Moreton and Stradbroke Islands.
Once you start approaching the southern end of Moreton Island, you’ll via off and head back towards the mainland, with a rip-roaring panoramic view of the city. Over the Bay and into Wynnum, you’ll experience gorgeous view of Brisbane’s favourite natural beach in Manly.
Flying back past Mt Gravatt and back to base, safe and sound. That was fun wasn’t it? Purchase a video of the trip from the office and then head back onto AirShare and book your next adventure. We dare ya!
