As an extension of the Canberra City Helicopter tour, the Capital Highlights flight goes beyond the city and moves out toward the western hinterland. This helitour takes off from the eastern side of Canberra at the airport and flies over the city along Lake Burley Griffin. Along the lake, you’ll have great views of Parliament House, The High Court, the Australian War Memorial and a slew of other national landmarks. As the chopper heads westward over the National Zoo and Aquarium, you’ll pivot slightly southward and direct toward the Mount Stromlo Observatory.
As the helicopter enters the hinterland, the trip begins to get incredibly stunning. Looking out into the forestry of Cotter Reserve and the Brindabella Ranges. During the winter, it is common for snow to cap the magnificent Brindabella ranges. As you reach Cotter Dam, the flight will begin to return back to base where you’ll have nice views of the Red Hill Nature Reserve.
